The LLW Standing Group will be joining forces with the Progressive Grammar Special Interest Group for a joint meeting at this year’s 4Cs on Friday, February 17th at 3:30pm Central Time in Room PDR 2. LLW membership participated in a sponsored panel at CCCC 2022, which was again online due to the continuing pandemic. The workshop, “Introduction to Linguistics for Teachers and Students in support of CLA pedagogy,” aimed to provide an accessible and practical introduction to linguistic knowledge and activities in support of critical language awareness (CLA) pedagogy for writing teachers and students, and featured presentations and activities from Shawna Shapiro, Laura Aull, Whitney Gegg-Harrison, Craig Hancock, and Cornelia Paraskevas.

LLW membership participated in a workshop and a sponsored panel at CCCC 2021, which took place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The workshop on “Inclusive Grammars, Alternative Perspectives, Nuanced Meanings” featured presentations and activities from Joe Salvatore, Cornelia Paraskevas, Jinrong Li, Whitney Gegg-Harrison, and Deb Rossen-Knill. Our sponsored panel on “Understanding and Responding to Standardized English in Composition” featured presentations from Laura Aull, Craig Hancock, Daniel Kies, and Cornelia Paraskevas. CCCC 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. We are hoping to find ways of sharing what we would have shared at the conference via this website. Stay tuned for more information!
